I AM ALWAYS THE ONE I WANTED TO MARRY:

(L.I.G.H.T. finds the perfect mate in her inner gender warrior D.R.E.D. (Divine Reality Every Day) (c) 1995-2012)
-
Sima Shakhsari, Ph.D. writes, "Through a thought-provoking performance, MilDRED (aka DRED) questions the naturalized binaries of gender and sexuality, while highlighting the performativity of gender and sexuality. Using poetry, music, comedy, and movement as educational tools, MilDRED expresses the way in which discovering her "male" persona "DRED" has refashioned the gendered notions of her sexual and spiritual self. An effective pedagogical tool, this performance makes theories of gender and sexuality tangible for students of various disciplines, and is accessible to a wide range of audiences." - www.DredLove.com (length: half hour)

A mix of poetry, education, and humour, LIGHT also goes into some of the herstory/history of our transgendered, cross-dressing, and gender bending ancestors: from two-spirited/multi-gendered people being honored as the medicine people, chiefs, and healers of African, Indian, and Native-American tribes, to participants of Haitian ritualistic ceremonies being taken over Gods and Goddesses of their opposite sex. “Loving All of Who I AM"
(Society is not going to tell me to be who I AM!)  -  An Intimate Night of Performance and Gender Exploration with LIGHT aka D.R.E.D. (Daring Reality Every Day)

Take advantage of this opportunity to share the stage or at least support those who do.

LIGHT has been performing, lecturing and presenting workshops for over 15 years. Her work is written about in over 11 books. LIGHT says, "When you honor all of who you are, that is when healing begins, so take back your power by releasing your conditioning and your experience of domestication of society. BE FREE TO BE WHO YOU ARE." She. begins this interactive workshop in a safe space and with a thought-provoking, fun, and gender bending performance. Her performance will be followed by an interactive discussion - which includes talking about – and expressing creatively if you wish - how drag/gender-bending (as defined by you) has helped you understand your self - spiritually, sexually, and culturally.

LIGHT also asks and demonstrates with workshop participants questions such as: "What role does society’s construction, or conditioning, or domestication of gender/sexuality play in your life?" There will also be an open mic for participants to have an opportunity to share creatively as well, through song, spoken word, movement/dance, speaking, and silence - however you wish to share.Come and explore a side of your Self that you have never experienced before or wish to experience again: whether female, male, or somewhere in between :-)

Gender bending welcome, even encouraged!

Once again, this will be a comfortable and Safe space for experimentation, so come in drag if the mood suits you! Bring forth your gender expression - or any expression - through poetry, song, movement or even silence.Bring a song that you find inspiring if you wish. Then we all party after, continuing to enjoy each other's expressions.
